Badal

Tanveer is a travel, lifestyle and architectural photographer based in Los Angeles. He has photographed over 50 countries and is a contributor for Condé Nast Traveler, The New York Times and National Geographic Traveller. His imagery has appeared in international advertising campaigns, hospitality and tourism marketing and editorial publications all over the world. He’s also an Afar Magazine ambassador.
One of Tanveer’s expertise is luxury hotel photography. He’s worked with large-scale hospitality clients such as Aman Resorts and Four Seasons as well as boutiques like Habitas and Sensei. Applying his years of training as an editorial photographer, his images are unique in having a candid and natural feel to them. He covers both ends of the hospitality spectrum and shoots architectural and interiors, as well as lifestyle with talent.
Motion is a key part of Tanveer’s services. Moving images, drone footage, cinemagraphs and animated GIFs are all a regular part of his client deliverables.
In 2014, Tanveer traveled the entire year — from Tokyo to Madagascar — an adventure he considers his real world "Masters degree in photography." Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Tanveer immigrated to Los Angeles with his family at age 9. He studied journalism at New York University, a skill he still puts into practice today by writing recent articles for The New York Times, Travel + Leisure and Afar. After a decade as a New Yorker, he returned to his childhood roots in Los Angeles where he lives today with his wife and 2 young daughters.

“Blending Hotel and Travel Photography”

I entered the world of architectural photography from shooting hotels, which are typically part of a travel editorial assignment. My hospitality/architectural clients typically hire me for the natural/editorial aspect of my work. They want the photos to feel like travel photos, even if they're architectural in nature. However, I think it's important to learn proper architectural techniques and lighting before going for the more natural approach. During my talk at Shifter Summit 2024, I'll discuss my career trajectory and how I blend the worlds of travel and architecture to create images that make the viewer want to be in that world
